Inside Reverie: 37 DSP Modules

A reference tour of every module in the Pro Chain Builder, with usage tips for producers, sound designers, and composers.

Reverie ships with 37 DSP modules. In Dreamscape mode they combine automatically based on preset. In Pro Chain Builder they are yours to compose by hand. This is a tour of each category, with notes on when each module earns its place in a chain.

01Time-stretching (2 modules)

Dreamtime – Reverie's extended evolution of the Paulstretch algorithm – takes any audio and stretches it from 3× to 100×, randomizing phase to produce the smeared pad textures ambient is built on. Beyond the classic algorithm it adds spectral drift, stochastic multi-segment extraction, and phase continuity blending to keep hour-long renders alive. Spectral Freeze captures a frame and sustains it indefinitely with subtle magnitude drift, ideal for drones and meditation beds.

02Spectral (4 modules)

Spectral Blur smooths frequency content over time and across bins. Spectral Morph interpolates between two captured spectra for gradual harmonic transformation. Spectral Gate mutes bins below a threshold for sparse, granular textures. Spectral Cross-Synthesis hybridizes the spectra of two source regions.

03Filters (3 modules)

Lowpass and Highpass filters are classic tools for shaping spectral balance, both with optional LFO modulation of the cutoff. Parametric EQ provides multi-band tonal shaping with Q and gain control per band. Use these early in the chain to control the tonal center before spatial effects.

04Modulation (7 modules)

Tremolo and Harmonic Tremolo provide amplitude modulation (the latter frequency-aware, Fender-style). Polyrhythm Tremolo offers 12 rhythmic presets (Fibonacci, Reich, Golden, Binaural, and more) for complex modulation. Ring Mod adds metallic sideband content. Frequency Shifter shifts the whole spectrum by a constant Hz offset. Temporal Evolution provides anti-monotony drift over long renders.

05Pitch and harmony (6 modules)

Pitch does simple semitone shifting. Pitch Drift adds subtle random pitch motion for organic feel. Harmonic Shift pitch-shifts while quantizing to one of 14 musical scales. Chord Layer stacks 16 voicings (Fifth, Octave, Sus2, Sus4, Add9, Maj7, Min7, Shimmer, etc.) on top of the source. Resonator provides 12 sympathetic-resonance presets tuned to musical intervals. Formant filters the source through 8 vowel shapes for vocal coloration.

06Spatial (5 modules)

Reverb and Shimmer Reverb provide classical and octave-shifted reverb tails. Delay with feedback LFO produces evolving echoes. Stereo Width uses Haas delays and optional movement to widen the image. Chorus and Phaser are the classic modulated-delay effects, often used to soften edges.

07Color and texture (6 modules)

Tape Saturation with wow/flutter adds analog warmth. Bitcrush reduces bit depth for lo-fi artifacts. Glitch produces digital stutters and reverses. Stutter slices the audio into short segments and repeats them with configurable probability, length, and pitch variation for rhythmic glitch textures. Breathing adds organic amplitude drift that humanizes long renders. Micro Drift applies sub-audible detune and stereo shift as a final polish.

08Dynamics and utility (4 modules)

Compressor controls dynamic range. Normalize sets peak level for export. Fade adds configurable in/out curves. Reverse flips audio temporally. These live at the end of the chain to finalize the output.
